Who We Are
We are a nonprofit organization providing privacy advocacy and services to health communities. Our website address is: https://lightcollective.org.
What We Collect
This website is mainly used for educational purposes. We only collect information if you opt in to attend an event, or sign up for any of our email lists to participate in our programs. If you sign up for an event or email list, we may ask you for your name and email address in order to send you information that you are requesting.
We may ask other questions in order to improve a specific program or service we are offering. See “Where We Send Your Data” for overview of tools we use.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data that our organization holds about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
We use a range of services in order to run the website and communicate.
- WordPress.com. This is a commonly used website service hosting service that allows us to build the content on our website. WordPress has features that allow us to gather information when you leave comments (see Comments section below).
Each of these services are governed by their own policies. When we use these tools we are required to comply with their policies. We do not share information we collect about you without asking you first.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser to help spam detection.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment on our website’s blog, the comment is public and its metadata are retained indefinitely.
For users that register on our website to leave comments, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. You are not required to use your real name if you prefer to leave an anonymous comment. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
We do not use marketing cookies. Marketing cookies are used to target advertising to a user (behavioral targeting).
