David White endured six years of dialysis before receiving a kidney transplant from a deceased donor in 2015. An emergency meeting with his dialysis care team in 2010 made it clear that he needed to take responsibility for his own health, and that meeting saved his life.
He has served in leadership roles in several kidney disease advocacy organizations, and currently serves on the boards of the Patient Advocate Foundation and the National Patient Advocate Foundation. He also works nights as a proofreader for an international law firm, and that makes participating in a lot of things challenging at times. The way he sees it, though, he is still blessed to have so many opportunities to serve others.
